Christmas Pinterest Party

I love these parties.  I think everyone should have their friends over, eat delicious food and make pretty things.

This was my fourth Pinterest Party (see the first three here, here and here) and I decided to do this one a little differently.  Everyone was asked to pick a small, inexpensive crafty gift from Pinterest and make enough for everyone at the party.  I made a small, small gift and then gathered the supplies for everyone to make something during the party.

I made this tester frosted glass hurricane and decided it was easy and quick and would be the perfect project.

And because I have OCD (obsessive crafting disorder) I made another one but put an A sticker on it before I sprayed it.

Some people wrote words and one did her last name but most of us used a variation of our initials.

I didn’t get pictures of everyone’s 😦 but these are good examples of how they looked.

I just love seeing the craftiness of my friends!  I love my Santa W, the pretty candy cane decoration and my personalized mug!  I made the little hair ties and my friend Shiloh brought the Grinch ornaments.

I thought it was a perfect party.  We ate, and talked, and ate, and crafted, and ate and laughed.  And the best part was that Henry was well behaved!

Fall Wreath Pinterest Party

I love doing crafts.  I also love eating delicious food and seeing my friends.  These Pinterest parties let me do all three at once!

I wanted a fall wreath for my front door so, of course, I decided to host a party.  I searched Pinterest for “fall wreath” and as soon as I found the corn husk wreaths I was sold!

Tonight I’ll show you pictures from our party and tomorrow I’ll show you how we made the wreaths, ok?  Good.

It turned out to be perfect that there were only three of us at this party.  Everyone had their own glue gun and table to work at so nobody had to wait their turn.

I made a practice wreath yesterday to make sure it all worked.  I realized that the most time consuming part of this project was preparing the husks and I wanted to be sure we could get down to the fun stuff when everyone showed up for the party so I made a 10000 (give or take) over the last couple of days.

Sorry about the dark pictures.  My not fancy camera and not fancy editing did the best they could!

I’m excited to show you the how to tomorrow!

Inspiration

I love my tiny digital camera.  It’s not fancy but it’s tough and small which makes it perfect for taking everywhere with me!

While in Oregon last month I took a ton of pictures.  Most of them were random-no family, no landmarks-but all things that I wanted to remember when I got home.

For example:

insp2

A picnic bench at a scenic lookout.  Why?  I love these colors-the grey cement, the black rocks, the weathered wooden bench and of course, those greens!  I have no idea where I can use this color combo, but believe me, I’ll be looking!

insp4

These were the adorable centerpieces at the reception.  It reminds me how much I love red and aqua together but my favorite part is that mossy wood slice in the middle!

insp3

These windows were on one entire wall at the Deschutes Brewery.  I’m now obsessed with finding a bunch of these multi-paned windows to put all the way around my laundry room.  The best part though, was that the middle section of each one opened (see the tiny, tiny knobs?) so you could still get some air moving around.

insp1

Oh these lights!  They were strung over a brick patio at the reception.  Now I’m glad I obsessively bought a bunch of boxes of the round Christmas lights when they went on clearance.  You better believe that next summer I’ll be enjoying my backyard under a canopy of pretty, pretty white lights!

I took a million other pictures but these are the 4 I keep coming back to.  They’re now in my “Inspiration” folder so when I’m stuck for ideas or looking for a project I can dig them out and get started!

Spring Pinterest Party

I found this pin on Pinterest and knew that this was going to be our project for our Pinterest Party.

Everyone brought a photo and food they  made from a recipe they pinned. For an example I painted one of my friend’s new baby boy.

Image

My friend then painted one of her daughter (so tiny!) and now has a cute matching set!

Image

Barb painted her kids

Image

And Denise painted her son playing baseball

Image

Suzanne did one of her and her husband

Image

And I don’t have kids or a husband so I painted Henry 🙂

I also made cute little Mason Jar glasses for everyone:

And they were fun to drink out of but the paint washes off. 😦  Mine is getting turned into a paintbrush holder 🙂

Mardi Gras Party!

A very precocious five year old invited me to a Mardi Gras Party last week.

I made my first King Cake but in Tiny Town, Colorado there was not a tiny plastic baby to be found.

Image

So I used a tiny plastic dinosaur.

The food was delicious!

And then things went bad.  Lyndsey had a meltdown but the rest of the Walkers look great!

Annnnd she’s back.  Guess who’s King for the Day?!

Oscar Party 2014

Even though I was waaaay off on my predictions (I really thought Dallas Buyer’s Club would take it all!) it was still so much fun to get dressed up with my girls, eat junk food and argue about who we thought should win.

We took a lot of pictures but here are the best:

Image

With rain in the forecast I opted for a plastic red carpet.  Two tablecloths from Wal-Mart ($1.97) and some golf tees (thanks dad!) and this sucker was ready to be walked on.

Image

Two more black tablecloths (also $1.97 from Wal-Mart) went up over my entryway closet with some gold stars and some gold Oscar statues (that I cut out) to make a fun photo backdrop.

Image

The food was amazing!  Shanna brought popcorn from the local theater and I brought movie candy (Milk Duds, Junior Mints, Hot Tamales, Reese’s Pieces.)  Barb brought BLTs on a stick (YUM!) and fruit and chocolate fondue.  Suzanne’s jalapeno poppers aren’t pictured :(.

Image

Image

Let’s be honest though-nothing was as adorable as the hot dogs in tuxes that Denise brought.

Image

Suzanne, Denise, Barb, Shanna and me!

Image

Henry also got dressed up (although this lasted less than an hour…)

Image

Image

Image

I also grabbed some (new!) white socks for everyone so when their shoes started to pinch and their toes got cold they’d have something to put on.  These feet belong to me and Denise.

Image

And then because I never have a chance to dress up and do my hair anymore I decided to take some selfies…please forgive me!

Image

If I was really on my game I would also have pictures of our ballots and gifts but by the time I realized I hadn’t taken pictures of those I was in a food coma and couldn’t muster the energy to get the pictures.

I have big plans for next year!

Pinterest Party #1

This party was so easy and so fun that I want to do one every month!

Image

As the hostess I gathered all the supplies and set them out.  We decided as a group on the project which was to Mod Podge paper onto the backs of glass plates.  Sounds exciting, right?Image

Image

I asked everyone to make a food or drink that they found on Pinterest and enough copies of the recipe for everyone to take one home.  My friend Genessee took it one step further and made us all these awesome chalkboard paint dipped wine glasses to go along with her drink!

Image

Image

Image

We had so.much.food!  Taco Cups (Michelle,) Saltine Toffee (Me,)  Sausage Cheese Balls (Me,) Bacon Ranch Mix (Barb.)  Not shown here are 5 Minute Fudgy Cake (Denise) and Mini Cheesecakes (Genessee.)

Image

Barb took hers one step further and bagged up the dry ingredients, packaged them in burlap and gave us each one with the recipe attached!

Image

These cheesecakes were delicious and adorable!  My co-worker pointed out that “Pin Me” could have a naughtier meaning than what was intended.

Image

Image

Image

I got enough plates for everyone to do two and I think we could have sat there all night making them if I had enough plates!

I’m already trolling Pinterest looking for our next project!
